Interesting Insects!

For the next two weeks our class will be exploring and learning about insects!  We will begin by learning what makes an insect an insect and then we will discover different types of insects.  Enjoy these two videos about insects and see what you find out!

Getting Bigger!!

The tadpoles are growing bigger everyday!  They are zooming all over the tank!  I have been feeding them fish food and lettuce which they gobble up.  Because there are so many tadpoles I am going to let most go into the pond near my house so they can grow up naturally.  There will be a few to keep in the classroom so we can continue our investigation on the frog life cycle.  Here are a few pictures and a video so you can see how they are growing.

A Few Days Old

Now the tadpoles are a few days old.  Lots of the time they just hang in the water and look like they aren't even alive!  But if you move the tank or lift the lid, they swim around really fast.  At the bottom of the tank you can still see the clump of empty egg cases.  It looks like they nibble on it sometimes but I also put some fish food on the top of the water and they seem to eat it up!!  Take a look and discover something new about tadpoles!  

Tiny Tadpoles!

Well I went hunting for frog eggs last night and most were already hatched!  I managed to find this clump but as you can tell they are hatching very quickly into tiny tadpoles.  Be a scientist and take a close look.  What do you see?
