We all know that birds build nests....but so do many other animals! Below you will find pictures of 3 nests I have found on my farm. You can see that different types of birds build different nests. Some are small and others much bigger. Some are made to be a tree and others are attached to buildings. The birds who built these nests are very creative! They used whatever they could find to make thier nests - mud, sticks, grass, baler twine, string, horse and cow hair, leaves, bark and so on.
I have also posted the links to 2 different videos about nests. If you were at school, we would get out our Creation Station and try our hand at building nests. Since you are learning at home right now, I hope you can try building a nest there. You can use any supplies you can find in your house or outside. This is part of our Design and Build Science. Have fun and be sure to send me a picture of your nest!!
Mystery Doug - Why do birds lay eggs in the spring?
Try building some 2D and 3D shapes using toothpicks or popsicle sticks as the sides or edges and marshmallows or playdoh for the corners. It can be tricky but lots of fun! Here are some pictures to help you get started.

We had so much fun learning about colours and trying our hand at mixing them together! Thanks to the parents who came to help us with these activities!
